Results of the Friday Night Sew-In!

Getting ready for a weekend vacation kept me busier than I had originally planned, but I did manage to accomplish blocks for TWO different quilts!  (I'm getting ready to see Journey in concert tomorrow night!)

These first two were cut with the Lazy Angle Ruler by Joan Hawley

These blocks were made very quickly and easily from my Basic Grey for Moda in Aspen Frost jelly roll.
Three 2.5" x WOF strips
dark
light
medium
Cut these in half diagonally
Cut out 6.5" squares in coordinating background fabric (white with red snowflakes) and cut each of those in half diagonally, too.
Arrange to suit.

This idea came from a free Moda pattern called "Jelly Roll Spin".
Here are many free jelly roll patterns on PDF from www.gobookee.net .

Friday Night Sew-In is July 19th, 2013!

FNSI is tomorrow night!

There's still time to register here:  http://sugarlanequilts.blogspot.com/

I know EXACTLY what I'm going to be working on...

July 6th was our 23rd wedding anniversary, so we went to a major city in our state and lo-and-behold!  all the quilt shops (except one) were closed for the Fourth of July weekend!

At the one shop that was open  (ten miles from our hotel!), my DH purchased a beautiful Christmas fabric jelly roll with 4 yds of backing and 5/8ths yard red binding.

We don't look too bad after twenty-three years together!

The fabric:  Moda "Basic Gray" Aspen Frost from Missouri Star Quilt Company

I found two great coordinating background and border fabrics at my local quilt shop:

I searched for two full weeks for a jelly roll pattern that I thought would feature the fabric nicely and lend itself to the holidays...I FINALLY found it when the pattern (free from Quilter's Newsletter) arrived in the mail!  (And to think I almost threw it out!)  "Jelly Roll Spin"  is 85x85 and will be perfect for two people to snuggle under this winter :-)

I found these and had to share with my readers:  MORE free patterns! AND Free JELLY ROLL patterns!

What are you making this summer?  Do you sew, quilt or craft while camping or on vacation?  What milestones have you celebrated this summer?

What are you doing for Friday Night Sew In?  Please consider joining us - you could win THIS....

All the Best,

@
