Set up your game - the attached zippered pouch makes this a breeze!

My DS and I couldn't wait for a camping trip to play our on our new camping checkers quilt - guess who won?!?

:-)

Later in the day, my DH started a fire for s'mores in the chimnea and we enjoyed
games of checkers and yummy dessert together!

FMQ Challenge results for May (SewCalGal)

Here's my results from May's SewCalGal FMQ Challenge 2012 with guest Leah Day:

Personally, I found straight line quilting to be very challenging - how about you?

For full post, please visit:  http://rocknquilts.blogspot.com/2012/05/may-fmq-challenge-2012-results.html
(I'm having challenges with blogger and attempts to post.  Is anyone else experiencing difficulties posting?)

May FMQ Challenge 2012 results

Leah Day is the May guest FMQ featured this month at SewCalGal.blogspot.com - come on over to see how everyone's work is progressing!

Personally, straight line quilting was very challenging for me - how did you do?  I like the 'train track' look, though!

Angela Walter's is releasing a new free motion quilting book on July 16th, 2012 and she will be our 2012 July Challenge expert!  Here's a 'sneak peek review' of her upcoming book for you!

When I'm recooperating from minor surgery at the end of May, it will be nice to play checkers with my family members on the scrappy quilt I created this week - my ten-year-old DS and I chose brown and ivory buttons to play with from great-grandma's button stash:

And here's the almost finished product (binding tomorrow!)

I added the hearts/leaves from January in the scrappy 3.5" border and the feathers from February in the outside border for another chance to improve.

Hope you're finding the time to participate in SewCalGal's FMQ Challenge 2012 - the prizes being given away look really wonderful!

Happy Sewing to all,
@

Please join me in an e-mail campaign!

What do you do with all those scraps, odds and ends, small, leftover pieces from various projects...?
This is what you do!

This idea came from
"Quilt Your Stash" by Joan Ford

This is what I have to contend with...

Ahhh....so much nicer!

Thank you, Joan Ford!

A great post about scrap busting HERE.

Now, what will I make with all these pre-cuts?
Joan has ten projects from a carry-all to a pillow to quilts to keep me busy!

Now, if AccuQuilt will join forces with Joan Ford to create a
2" square, 3.5" square and 5" square die set, it'd be sheer heaven!  Please join me in an e-mail campaign for this request!

Dear AccuQuilt,
Please create a stash busting die set like those featured on http://www.accuquilt.com/go-shop/die-sets.html that includes 2", 3.5" and 5" squares so we can make even more projects from our stash.  We love Joan Ford's Scrap Therapy program, but would like an AccuQuilt die set to make it even easier to bust our stash!
You have the 2" strip for the Go! cutter
and the # 55022 2" squares for the Go! cutter
and the 3.5" square for Go! cutter
and die 55010 is available for 5" charm squares
We love the 12" finished block set http://www.accuquilt.com/go-mix-and-match-die-set.html?p=2, so why not create a stash busting die set?
Another option would be to create one die with one of each like the die that comes with the Go! cutter when you first purchase it.

Thank you!  Sincerely, (your name here)
