optional:  using scrap fabrics, sew scraps together using 1/4" straight stitch, then turn, press and use decorative stitches to create a "crazy patch" look, then cut fabric to size above.

1.  Serge front to back on long edges creating a tube.  Optional:  fold and press 3/4" stripes lengthwise wrong sides together, then line up all the raw edges of the front, back and the folded strip, serge or sew the length of the first edge, then repeat on the other side.

optional contrasting trim

front, back, and contrasting trim
serging the tube along the raw edges

2.  Turn right side out.

3.  Press the seams away from the front.  Optional:  if you have added the contrasting trim, press toward the front of the tablerunner to make the trim lay away from the middle.

4.  Fold the table runner lengthwise back sides together.

5.  Serge across the ends of the table runner.

6.  Place the point from the front of the end seam to the back creating a triangle.  Press.  Sew a decorative button on each side of the front of the tablerunner, to hold the triangular ends down.
Enjoy!

My favorite summer "holiday" would be the days surrounding Mother's Day and Father's Day. It always includes several birthdays and anniversaries. As children we used to like to "surprise" our folks and rent a cabin in the mountains at Wild Basin Lodge to celebrate their anniversary. In those two months we celebrated Mother's Day, Dad's birthday, Mom's birthday, Father's day and their anniversary. We were pretty broke by the time June was over.
Now I celebrate Mother's & Father's Day, our own anniversary and my husband's birthday. It is always fun. I love the beginning of summer, the fair weather before the heat of summer settles in is so pleasant.
I am a new follower. Thanks for the giveaway
