Civil War Chronicles April BOM

My DD's graduation quilt has me really hopping this month, but I did find the time to finally cut out the pieces for the Civil War Chronicles April BOM last night!

My favorite from the free patterns:  http://www.quiltime.com/quilts_pdf/175braidedstarburst.pdf

This is my first time using triangle paper.  The directions for the CWC April block are to cut out 48 2 7/8" squares of Fabric 2 (light purple) and Fabric 3 (dark purple).  I misunderstood by choosing 48 triangles to make.  I should have made 96 paper triangles instead.  Hey, this is my first time and I'm new at this business, so I'm chalking it up to a learning experience!  Today I'll go up to the quilt shop (thankfully only five minutes away by car) and purchase 15" more of Fabrics 2 and 3....

To use triangle paper, lay your darker color down first, right side up.  By the way, I thought the directions printed right on this paper were easy to understand and very well done.

Secondly, place the lighter fabric right side down and finally, place your triangle paper face up on top of that.

Here, I'm following the recommendation written directly on the paper of where to begin so that you will be able to continuously sew...

I found it extremely easy (boring almost) to follow the dotted sewing lines...

I received a nice result :-)

Now it's time to cut on the solid lines...

The directions recommend pinching the two pieces of paper and then pulling...

That works really well because I used the smallest straight stitch I had...

I really liked using triangle paper - it was fast and I have a LOT left over - enough to make a couple of quilts...BUT
I had to use the rotary cutter through paper, which will dull them.
ALSO,
my short stitch length looks a bit strange....
SO, I've decided....
for the next forty-eight HST, I am going to use my AccuQuilt again.
I prefer those results, even though it may take a bit longer, the finished HSTs cut with my AccuQuilt, in my opinion, is better than my finished product with Triangle Paper.

Have you ever used triangle paper?
What kind of paper do you print your triangles onto if you use the Triangulations program?
Do you find it challenging to find 'just the right paper'?

Thank you for sharing!
