Welcome to RocknQuilts!
If you popped on over for the give-away from my post at Stash Manicure, this is the place to leave your comment :-) and stop by for a visit. I hope you'll choose to follow and join us Tuesday for Toot-torial Tuesday for all things creative - sewing, quilting, projects, dressmaking, baking, cooking, drawing, painting, photography, scrapbooking....all the good stuff!
The most recent Friday Night Sew-In was June 17th, so I got busy! Who would be able resist the sweet little sewing mice in this embroidery? FNSI seemed like the perfect time for indulging in some sewing fun, and I knew I couldn't resist this sweet design, so 81,000+ stitches later, here is my 'masterpiece'!

(I'll be making this into a ruffled pillow for my sewing room.)
When pregnant with my now 17 year-old DD, I spent almost nine months embroidering a beautiful baby sleeping in a crib surrounded by toys. It was amazing to me that I was able to complete this beauty (13" long x16" high) in just one evening at home. I love cross-stitch and embroidery designs that don't look commercialized. Unfortunately for me, with a couple previous hand injuries and carpal tunnel problems, stitching isn't possible for me anymore, so I am just thrilled to be able to use my Brother Innovis 4000D as my 'hands'. At the quilt shop where I work, www.jrsewfun.com, they sell Anita Goodesign. I was helping to straighten up the designs and came upon a few old-fashioned favorites (the kind I can imagine my great-grandmother making on pillow cases and dish towels.)
What do you think of these 'Days of the Week' dish towel patterns?
and this I really fell in love with today at the quilt shop...there are many more designs on the CD than these, but this is a sampling:
And for all of us quilters out there, I was really surprised - delightfully so - to learn that Anita Goodesign also offers embroidery quilts, and lots of them!
I'm dashing off to my dashboard to check on all the fun FSNI projects from Friday, June 17th!
On Monday, June 20th, RocknQuilts will be featured on Sew WE Quilt @ Stash Manicure!!

ReplyDeleteWell...is this the spot to leave a comment about our favorite summer holiday? Not sure, but anyway, it's definitely July 4th because it's only two days after my birthday. We celebrate all week and have fireworks to boot! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm leaving the comment about my fav summer holiday: it's called thre Cruniu na mbod, it's Irish for "the Meeting of the Boats", it takes plays at a weekend around mid August, depending on the tide, and it conmemorates the tradition of sailing from Connemara to the village of Kinvara, accross Galway Bay, to unload the turf.
ReplyDeleteThe boats are beautiful, they're the traditional Galway Hookers. It's a great festival and there is a lot of Irish music in the pier in Kinvara.I'm looking forward to it this summer!
My favorite summer activity with my family is just getting together for a backyard barbecue and relaxing. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteNever met a July 4th that I did not celebrate our freedom - always find some fireworks and sit in awe at the wonder of it all. Judy C

I enjoyed your tutorial at Stash Manicure, Mary Ann!
ReplyDeleteI guess my favorite summer holiday has to be July 4, although it is always a shock to me how quickly the summer flies by afterward! It was always the marker that the next day school supplies would be out and I had to start gearing up for the new school year.
My favorite summer holiday has got to be the 4th of July! Such a patriotic holiday! Love those fireworks, flags flying, parades to honor our country! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDelete81,000+ stitches? Wow! I just did a 43,000 one on Saturday and thought that was a lot.
ReplyDeleteThe design is just gorgeous!
My favorite summer holiday is the 4th and we always have a huge family party here - over 100 people (it's a big family).

ReplyDeleteI love Holidays, doesn't really matter which lol. If I had to choose I guess I would go with Halloween. I love the pumpkins, witches and ghosts.
ReplyDeleteI love the 4th of July. For me, it heralds the beginnig of summer. The colors of the holiday, red, white and blue, are also the colors of summer. The colors are not only patriotic, but also bring to mind the beautiful blue skies, white sanyd beaches and fragrant watermelon. The fireworks brilliantly announce that summer is here!
ReplyDeleteMadam knows quality when she sees it, thanks for the giveaway offer too. I joined as a follower as
ReplyDeletewell. your tute was very informative. thank you
Really love your stars & stripes pillow!!! My favorite summer holiday is my birthday!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite summer "holiday" would be the days surrounding Mother's Day and Father's Day. It always includes several birthdays and anniversaries. As children we used to like to "surprise" our folks and rent a cabin in the mountains at Wild Basin Lodge to celebrate their anniversary. In those two months we celebrated Mother's Day, Dad's birthday, Mom's birthday, Father's day and their anniversary. We were pretty broke by the time June was over.
ReplyDeleteNow I celebrate Mother's & Father's Day, our own anniversary and my husband's birthday. It is always fun. I love the beginning of summer, the fair weather before the heat of summer settles in is so pleasant.
I am a new follower. Thanks for the giveaway
My favorite summer holiday is the fourth of July. We watch fireworks, maybe go boating or swimming. picnic with friends. COncerts in the park and there is plenty of summer left to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite summer holiday is the Fourth of July. Fireworks, either from our yard or at my mother's old home on the Gulf. I love fireworks --- and have been known to watch A Capitol Fourth on PBS several times in a row. Love that 1812 Overture with the sound of the fireworks. alternate email mlwright29(at)hotmail(dot)com
